Yes! Just shy of 9 feet is the ideal quarter-wave CB antenna. Average height great performing antennas around around 4-6 feet.
The general consensus is the Stryker brand antennas offer the best performance and reliability for the price. If you want to keep the cost down, Firestik brand antennas are still made in the USA and offer an excellent warranty and performance. President brand antennas also top the list of overall best built and best performing mobile CB antennas.
The best length is as close to 103" as possible. The best mounting height is the tallest point on your vehicle, as close to the center of the metal body as possible.
CB antennas affect the range of any CB radio system, however there are many variables that affect your range. Generally speaking, if you're using a tall antenna 6 feet or taller - your range will be as good as the conditions and your radio allow. The shorter the antenna is, the more negatively affected your range would be. For example, if you can talk 15 miles with a 6 foot antenna. A 3 foot antenna might reduce your range down to 2-3 miles. Every foot counts!
