The first 18″ of coax is mini RG-174A/U type allowing easy entry into the vehicle through the weather seal without causing wind noise, water leaks or impedance mismatch due to the coax being crimped or damaged.
The balance of the coax is low loss, approx .25 inch outside diameter.
Gold-plated UHF (PL-259/SO-239) type connectors
Mounting Instruction:
This unit is designed for lip mounts/ antenna brackets, permanent roof holes, etc. with a 5/8" hole. The reinforcement washer is included for permanent hole mounting. Attach the hex nut and the washer under the roof / trunk surface to reinforce the mounting location. When using a lip mount the washer is not needed. The chrome plated nut with O-ring is screwed down above the roof / lip mount to hold the connector in place. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN IT.
The PL-259 has a unique barrel that when turned clockwise will unscrew from the connector body. The coax can then be inserted through a smaller hole, routed through body panels or under the carpet before reattaching the barrel at the radio.
Adhesive foam spacers are included Use if desired to fill and gap created when the mini coax crosses the weather seal. Weather cap included to protect the SO-239 connector when the antenna is removed.
To shorten the over-all length of the coax:
Remove the barrel as above and de-solder the center pin of the PL-259
The connector body then screws apart and the cable can be cut to the desired length.
Re-assemble the connector.
