Firestik 2M15B Description
The Firestik 2M15 series, 2 meter amateur antennas are little quarter wave wonders. By using top quality materials, proven antenna knowledge and their patented tunable tip design, they built a pair of dependable antennas you can count on for your day to day communications. The 2M15-B is 100% American made with 100% American materials.
The core material is solid 3/8" (9.5cm) fiber-rich, custom blended, fiberglass. Each is hand wound with double insulated 19 gauge copper wire. Our 3/8"-24 threaded base will fit all common mounts and accessories. Both antennas are covered with a static reducing, water-tight sleeve containing UV and pigment stabilizers. A vinyl cap is provided to protect the tuning mechanism from the elements.
Like all transmitting antennas, these antennas work best when mounted over sufficient ground plane. The versitility of the tuning screw design offers a wide tuning range. The lowest frequency is achieved by having the tuning screw in its highest lockable position and the vinyl cap installed. Likewise, the highest frequency of the antenna can be found with both the vinyl cap and tuning mechanism removed.
During design testing we were able to achieve resonance from 135-168MHz without exceeding our maximum threshhold SWR of 2.0:1. In the 144-148MHz band sub 1.5:1 SWR was easily achieved.
