The Comet GP-9N is built for operators who want maximum performance from a dual-band 2M / 70cm base antenna. Standing over 18 feet tall, the GP-9M delivers exceptional gain and long-range performance for repeater access, simplex communication, emergency operations, and demanding home station setups. Its multi-section collinear design helps concentrate more signal toward the horizon, improving both transmit and receive performance compared to smaller dual-band verticals.
A short threaded sleave screws onto the bottom of the antenna providing the antenna/coax connection protection from the elements. Although hundreds are in use in repeater systems, it was not designed for mountain-top installation where extremely high winds, ice and other extreme conditions exist. It performs best in low to mid elevation installations where the high gain radiation pattern is most effective.
