August 2024 - UPDATED Firmware / Software: Midland has updated their MXT500 GMRS radios with new software and firmware. Here are some of the changes they've made:
Added 12 New CTCSS Privacy Codes - now 50 total CTCSS & 104 DCS
Added 27 Preprogrammed Channels (23 - 50)
Added a Public Address PA Function
Added ANC Automatic Noise Cancelling Function in Menu
Programmed Privacy Channels are Reprogrammable
Receive on channels 8 - 14 (the 462 MHz interstitial channels) is now default and doesn't require programming

With this Midland MXT500 package we wanted to combine the power of a 50 watt GMRS radio with the compact design of the Midland Ghost antenna. At 3 1/2" this is one of the smallest antennas out there, but is still able to offer 3dB gain, doubling the signal strength. The mounting bracket is designed to be clamped onto roll bars or mirrors and the NMO cable has a removable connector which makes installation a lot easier.
