The Force Has Awakened
After a long hiatus, the Magnum brand has released a very different looking model compared to everything else being made at this time, introducing the Magnum M1. At first glance, you'll notice the futuristic, almost star-warsian design with the symmetrical faceplate layout and dual LCD readouts. At night you'll appreciate the backlit faceplate and easy to read controls. Always being a leader in design and innovative appearance, the M1 surely stands out against all other radios currently available. Hopefully we'll see more of this type of design philosophy from future Magnum models.
Single Sideband
There's more going on 'under the hood' than just a unique appearance. The Magnum M1's single sideband stability is very good, in fact it ranks with the best of the best with the competition. No SSB drift is a huge plus for DX and frankly something that shouldn't even be an issue. Unfortunately other radios fail to adhere to higher component's and quality, which is why it's a feature worth mentioning.
10 & 12 Meter
There aren't a lot of choices in the strictly 10 and 12 meter radio market at this time, so it's nice to see the M1 offer coverage on both 10 and 12 meters. From the spec sheet you'll get 24.890 ~ 24.990 and 28.000 ~ 29.700 MHz transmit coverage, and full RX coverage from 24.500 ~ 29.999.
Echo & Talkback
The Magnum brand has been a leader in the area of echo. The M1 uses a digital echo board, similar in sound and functionality to the older generation S3, S6, S9 and even Delta Force radios.
Other Notable Features
• Auto-calibrating SWR meter which will always show your antenna system's SWR by simply keying the mic.
• Hi-Cut receive filter significantly cuts down on the static level, making the white noise much more bearable.
• Digital VFO control for easy access to whatever frequency you want.
• Programmable roger beep, both time and duration.
