At first glance the Ares II looks just like some of the side band CB's from the 80's and 90's like the 148 or Grant XL, but don't be fooled, there's a lot more to this radio than meets the eye. These 10 meter radios come loaded with AM / FM / SSB / and a WX weather mode and they're PC programmable, which really opens the door for a wide range of customizations that you can set to your liking. If you don't wanna hook it up to the computer, that's fine too, most of the functions can be modified with just the radio and microphone. With the free software and date cable (sold separately) you're able to customize channels or bands to different frequencies, create custom roger beep tones, and so much more.The thing that really sets the Ares II apart though is the built-in Noise Reduction Circuit which does an amazing job of using digital signal processing to clean up both your receive audio and your transmissions. Turn it on and all that static, crackles, and pops just disappear. It makes it so much easier to hear what you actually need to hear. When you transmit the reduction will help clear up any of the noises going around you like wind and road noise.
New Update Anytone has added a frequency counter function into their channel display that allows you to see your frequency scroll in 2 digit segments by holding the UP and Down buttons on the microphone.
