I spent several hours attempting to tune this antenna with my RigMaster antenna analyzer and kept getting no where. I got suspicious and tested the conductor and shield and got a 0.2 reading = the antenna was shorted and defective and is going back! Now my antenna analyzer doesn't even work right after being connected to the defective antenna. LOOK OUT FOR THESE WILSON ANTENNAS!

On my other truck I have a wilson hard mount 1000. This mag mount 5000 blows it away. Reception is amazing and trasmit is pretty good. If you have a radio with NOAA weather this antenna will not disappoint. I have never been without NOAA Reception. Only 2 cons. It makes a tiny but of wind noise but if you have music playing you can't hear it. The other con is this is a big antenna, kind of looks ridiculous on my ram 1500 but it works so good I don't care about the look.

Where do you draw the line, used K40s for years with good results, good antenna, but switched to a Wilson 5000 3 years ago. Its Heavy Duty and that a Plus. The Wilson 5000 hears well and get out an is durable, when I first got the Wilson 5000 it was a Mag mount, then converted it to a fixed mount, it works even better, talks and hears very long distances. 5+............Oldtimer

Had a Wilson 1000 and bought the 5000.The 5000 is better in some areas, but not in others. For the money i just get the 1000.But if you get a chance try a 10k one of the best antenna out there IMO.

A wilson 5000 is an unnessary investment unless you are putting out a large amount of power. Save your money by purchasing a little wil and have your radio tuned.

Purchased this antenna to replace the K40 I've been using for about 2 years now.

Pros: Better reception for NOAA radio, more power handling capabilities and everybody informs me that I'm getting my signal out "loud n clear"! CB reception is excellent.

Cons: Wish it came in white, only color is black. SWR isn't as low as the K40 it replaced and if you don't like a large magnet on your auto you might wanna think twice.

Overall: I'd purchase another one in a heart beat. So far this seems to really be doing a great job.
