Overall not much of a change, which means upgrading or using the older 380 series and the newer 385 series will be seamless to anyone. Enjoy the maximum 25 watts output power, as much as is allowed on the VHF band, as well. All in all a solid, inexpensive, high performance marine band radio that you can trust for years of use.
