The DX44HP is the updated version of the older DX44V. The biggest advantage to the new version is that they've doubled the power output. The 44HP now boasts 40+ watts modulation and 2-15 watts deadkey.
Like most newer radios they've also switched out all the green LED's and lights to blue. You also get a dimmer control so you can turn down the lights so they're not so hard on the eyes at night. They also cone with a built-in SWR meter so you can make sure your antenna system is tuned in. All in all, an excellent radio for not a lot of dough.
I recently purchased a Cobra29LTDBC, with the peak and tune option, Echo installed, and a turner RK56 mic...All I can say is "FANTASTIC JOB"....This radio get's the job done, It walks the walk, and talks the talk with the big boys!!!! Now if it's not much trouble I would like a quote on a Galaxy DX2547 base, with the TRB1 digital echo board installed, and a Astatic AST878DM wired for this radio, and shipped to 28617 zip code. Thanks for the help. I had a lot of questions because I built my headache rack with one of the major purposes being to mount my antenna on it. This rack was mostly designed and built at the same time, so I built, then redesigned, etc, to see what worked and what wouldn't. Today was a case in point. Thanks for helping me in my "designing" and ensuring I got what would work, saving me from some frustration later on.-- SOLER S.
Thank you Walcott !!! I tried to contact three other "so called distributors", I left each one an e- mail 5 days ago. No answer as of this a.m.. I called on the same day and left follow up messages. Mind you I'm the customer, But I need a radio. Still no calls or e-mails. So this morning I said I' ll call the Walcott number. they are a little more expensive than the chumps I called but I need my radio. The number rang and expecting disappoint, I heard a polite "Hello, Walcott Radio, how my I help you". Well, I flipped. The man introduced himself as Lamont. To make a long story short. Every question was answered, and I had alot. I haven't used a CB in 30 years. The best part I have a real radio guy helping me. I can't wait to get my new radio. No body on the planet can sell me a radio but My Man Lamont. Lamont, thank you so much for your professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. George D. Smith-- George S.
